Benoit Convers
Instilling a sense of history and a secret dimension into each new creation is what characterizes the whole approach of Benoit Convers. Indeed, with each new creation, he proves that the utility of an object can be animated with an emotional dimension, with memory and with meaning. He achieves this prowess by breathing a living pulse into his creations, and by conferring on them a secret function. In 2003, whilst working on the project of the nomadic stool, he is obviously inspired by his own dog ; the same size, always tagging along at his side. Sultan marks the starting point of the emblematic collection of the “Mobilier de Compagnie”. As the designer of more than one hundred and twenty pieces for the Ibride label, Beno?t develops an intelligence of conception, where no waste is generated by the product, where each product is enhanced both by simple assembly procedures and by production on a local scale. His greatest ambition is to design objects whose presence becomes essential in our lives, and because they are so private and personal, they literally become incarnated by their owners. In doing so, they become items to be passed on from one generation to the next.
