Introduction

Beautifully proportioned with two intersecting A-frames and two circular surfaces achieves an elegant interplay of geometry. Two heights, two woods, many colours. Spin is a side table which complements all of MARK’s seating ranges. The name ‘Spin’ refers to the fact that the top is made by metal spinning. This is a craft process that involves spinning a disc of steel on a lathe whilst forming the rim over a mould using hand tools.

Tomoko Azumi (born in 1966, in Hiroshima, Japan) is a director of t.n.a. Design Studio, London; a furniture, product and exhibition design consultancy for multinational clients. She graduated with an MA Furniture Design from Royal College of Art in 1995, started partnership design studio AZUMI, then opened her solo studio in 2005. Recent works include; ‘Twiggy Lamp’ for Maxray (Japan), ‘Ro-Ro’ rocking chair for Zilio A&C (Italy), ‘At-At’ workstation for Röthlisberger (Switzerland) and ‘Muscicapa’ for Piege (Japan). She is a project tutor at Design Products Department, Royal College of Art. Tomoko has designed the Spin table series and Verso chair for MARK.
